History Of HoHokus School of Trade
The HoHoKus School of Trade and Technical Sciences, located in Paterson, N.J., is a premier welding school that offers hands-on training in most phases of the welding and building trades. The school boasts nearly 10,000 graduates since its inception in 1954. Certifications offered by the American Welding Society, American Petroleum Institute, U.S. Navy Welding Code Specifications, the U.S. Coast Guard – Merchant Marine Transports and Facilities, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers are available in our programs. Many graduates qualify under the specialized career codes certifications, allowing them to obtain employment that requires certification. Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, or Electric Pipe), manufacturing technology, sheet metal fabrication, and machine shop skills are all offered by the HoHoKus School of Trade.
Since its purchase by Eastwick Colleges, the school has gone through some remarkable improvements including the rebuilding of labs and classrooms, purchasing of new equipment, and the addition of computerized training and new curriculums to our traditional hands-on training. The Paterson facility offers a variety of different welding and machine shops outfitted with the most modern equipment, and we furnish all tools, equipment, and required materials to complete any of our course offerings.
Our Building Trades program provides students with hands-on training of the most widely-used skills necessary to maintain buildings (both corporate and residential), as well as a thorough understanding of repair techniques. In addition, students acquire the valuable knowledge and communication tools necessary for success in the building trades industry and for small maintenance businesses.
Graduates of our Building Trades program are prepared to enter positions as apartment superintendents, facilities engineers, maintenance technicians, head custodians, and boiler operators. In addition, students will be prepared to enter entry level positions in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, sheet rock, and HVAC maintenance.
